No idea how you go through a whole tank by lunch Sven, my big lardy 2.0 turbo only got through 3/4 of a tank last time although admittedly I left an hour early. Think I will be at a few, including the first of the year if the weather is good. funny people mention the chicane as being scary, personally Debtors and Colonial II I find much scarier/trickier!
i think the chicane is defintely the trickiest, as you need to get the weight transfer just right, and it possibly the only corner where timing is very important, or you could end up in the guard rail pretty quick
That. And then debtors, because of the speed, because the grass on either side is slippery like soap, and because there is broken up old concrete just under the surface.
If you manage a whole day on 3/4 of a tank, then you must be an even bigger little lady than me, lol I reckon about a tank and a half in total, including the drive down and back again.
Ok admittedly I filled up in Ards before I got there (nothing but the finest Asda fuel for me), but on passing through Ards on the way home I had 1/4 tank showing so filled up again. Thought that was pretty rough at the time but I guess not! Same 32L tank plus about 2 more of a filler neck in the S1 or is it smaller? You would know, you were there! I was tip toeing round most of the day and really only full throttle I would guess 15 seconds a lap. Post hairpin until debtors, post colonial one and 2 very briefly and about half way up the back straight. I rarely even got full throttle up the back straight as I didn't want to pass the people I had just let through lol.
Yep, I was there, you were indeed driving like bambi on ice, tricky in the wet Especially with all that turbo lag kicking in when you least expect it too Fuel tank is the same on the S1 I imagine. Though for that amount of fuel I get 150+ miles flat out (ok, by turnip measures, but still ) on track, so still decent MPG.
We use about 8-10 liters per 15 minute session, thats a 2 liter MR2. Looks like its going to be dry for Sunday, Baltic but dry. Going to be fun getting heat into the tyres!
Want to get back into the trackdays, probably won't be up till May date though. Had a wee spin up to Kirkistown on Sunday past and it's only up the road from me too ! When do I need to book in and what time do you need to be up there at? Also where do you stash your stuff when your on track?
Book in ASAP to secure your place, the entries seem to be picking up at the end of last year and have carried onto this year thankfully. Arrive at 10-10:30ish, firct car out between 11:30-12noon, your stuff can be left in the paddock, lads will leave wheels, fuel, jack etc all there, or for an extra £100 (between 2-3 people if you can get them) will hire you a garage for the day which keeps all dry if it's raining Noooooooo
tell me about mate, car been sitting in Mgym for 2 weeks now, box away in culleybackey being rebuilt (they are taking their time btw lol) headache headache headache!!
Yeah seen it in TMG I had to walk away and go home one night as your brakes and suspension wouldn't have been in the car too long had i put mine on the ramp beside yours HAHA
As Graham said, contact Donal a week or two before the event, he will tell you all you need to know and get you booked in. Details on their web site http://www.trackskills.com/ . Most people just leave their stuff in the paddock. Nothing loose in the car, it would be thrown around and bashed about! I bring a throw-over cover in case it should be damp, but that is it. Obviously keep any valuables on your person, but I have never heard of anything going missing, touch wood. If you are worried then you can always ask someone to leave stuff in their support cars. People are usually very friendly and helpful. Just remember to pick it up before they leave
Thanks for the quick reply's, Only valuable none mechanical thing will be my phone which I'll be using to record times and run Torque Pro on, but any events I've ever being to across the water or here guys always are 100%! £50 for track cover though Greenlight ain't bad either! Also can you rent out helmets or better to buy your own?
Better to get your own helmet Santoz, more hygienic if nothing else. Any old helmet will do, nothing fancy or motorsport required. I use a £40:- scooter helmet. Open face is more comfortable in a car I think, but that is a matter of preference I guess.
Cheers Sven, My mate has a scooter helmet which was used once so I'll see if it fits and if so happy days! Booked in for 20th May so just have to get the car ready now
