Total novice when it comes to this carry on, usually me+wiring ends up in a ruinous fire so try and keep it simple, I've a Rockford foshat 12" sub, 250w IIRC so need something to suit it. What amp should i be lokoing for? Nothing overly fancy and certainly not expensive. Would also need a wiring kit, is there any particular type i need? Plan to run this off an ancient Sony Minidisc player (keepin 'er retro bay) so will that mean there are older style connectors that need worked around? I plan to ditch the spare wheel and lob the sub into the boot, but other than waterproofing, is there any other tips that may come in handy?
Youc an line out adapters from the likes of halfords, which you tap into the speaker connectors, and allows the conventional RCA cable. Amp choice, not 100% sure without researching myself, but by saying your sub is 205w, do you mean 250RMS? if so an amp that puts out as close to that (preferably below 250RMS) is what you will need, wiring wise probly 8gauge wiring kit, ebay etc. Depending on the amp, will depend on the gauge needed, sometime they reccomend an ideal gauge. Also the fuse on the wiring kit should match, that on the amplifier. Kenwood do some amps which are not too expensive, might get a suitable one there. Hopefully this helps, o,. RE spare wheel well, maybe some sound proofing
If you're on a budget, get yourself an Alpine MRD M500 or M501 from back in the day. They would be perfect.
check out www.caraudiosecurity.com get an amp with an rms output close to but not above your subs rms output and try to get a decent make like pioneer, alpine, etc even kenwood, jvc, or jbl etc would do but dont get a fli, boss, west coast customs, or other cheap **** you havent heard of lol
Only thing about those English sites you get penalised for postage over the Northern ireland... even though its the UK -_- If you see something there you like, check ebay or amazon, normally postage charges are more reasonable
first thing to do is get the model number of the HU. Then we can see if it has RCA outputs. If it doesnt you can buy amps that take the rear speaker signals as input. No need to use a convertor then (keep it simple). then its a matter of budget. have a look on a few sites and see what you can get. Should be able to get something half decent for <£100 new or maybe around 50 second hand.
to give you an option I got a 2000w amp, 2 6x9 and sub in box etc. so a full package 2nd hand for £100, think its the fusion package halfords used to sell for 300-400squid. theres plenty available like that http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-...ne-pioneer-subwoofer-6-by-9-speakers/94707672. Just another option
not a bad price for all that kit, but think he's looking to add to the existing set up, without making his equipment redundant, who knows
yea was thinking that lol but sure if stuck theres an option anyway you could always buy that and sell your own! another curve ball thrown in there lol
