went on thurs night, watched 1 stage fri & 20cars through 1 stage today and came home in discust, what a crappy event, no access to roads that you were supposed to be allowed to park on, paying 10 or 5 quid into fields for the privilage of gettin stuck, generally the next time it's here i'll get a car pass for access all areas or watch it on TV
Just home about an hour ago, got absolutly soaked, went to the 10ish stage at tempo. Police wouldnt let anyone anywhere near it, had to park on the main road and walk around 3 miles in the pishing rain, ok it was a good spot to view from. Then went to the 2 oclock ish stage at sloughan glen, had to pay a fiver to park in some random quarry then again another good spot to see the cars coming down the hill and round the hairpin but no one taking any risks. All in all not a bad day, but the accessibility and road routes were ridiculous.
I am extremely disappointed. The Donegal International was ten times the rally this is. We arrived down at about 1 o'clock as I had work to do this morning and on arrival was greeted with the £5 car parking. Thankfully though we found a spot where everyone else had parked alone the road but ended up having to walk at least 3 miles to get to the stage only to find that you could see absolutely nothing. Tried to watch a few cars come through the stage behind rows and rows of people but after Loeb's blurr we headed back to the car (30 minute walk) to try and drive down to the final Tempo stage. I thought there was no point in even trying to get near the stage so we just headed for the finish at Tempo - the only time we got to actually see any rally cars all day long. A waste of a day and a waste of £30 of fuel in the BMW...
I didn't have a great impression of it either, a normal Irish Tarmac Rally is better craic. Went to the stage in Sloughan Glen this morning and was asked to pay a fiver into a field that they were towing cars IN to!! So turned and parked up the road a bit for free!! Got to see 4 stages so think I did well by the sound of things! And I can't understand why anyone ever dreamt of going near wearing trainers and the likes! I'm sure a lot thought I looked like a d*ck with my full Roads Service issue hi vis wets, but I stayed dry all day!!!
As said the roads were very greasy and dirty, so most drivers were very cautious. Did anyone watch the start point of the second Tempo stage? Also, did any of yous get stuck in the 6 mile long Ballinamallard - Enniskillen queue? Lucky I was coming the other way.
Went to the Ballinamallard 2 stage, stood in the cold for 3hours plus to be greeted by no more than 8 wrc cars, you'd get better in a regular itc event, i doubt the wrc will be back imho.
I went up to the 2nd tempo stage 2day jus struck gold only left home, kesh n.fermanagh, 20min b4 d 1st car was come fair enough had 2 pay a 5er 2 park in a field and thank god we wer in d jeep 4 geten out there(god luv d fella in d passat beside us) but i must say it was a good show not much hassle for us no traffic and got d jeep within 30metre of a brilliant viewen point. So have 2 say IMO its been a good job, bit cold, wet, etc but sure im from fermanagh that's life.
