    After last months announcement that car racing is set to return to Bishopscourt race circuit (May 12th-13th)
    Leinster Motor Club ("LMC") the promoters, has announced that they will be running the meeting in partnership with the British Automobile Racing Club ("BARC").

    This arrangement has been made necessar ydue to the fact that Bishopscourt is situated in Northern Ireland and so comes under the governance of the Motorsports Assocation the UK's governing body. So following a number of meetings at the Autosport Show in mid January, the BARC have agreed to be the organizing club, working with LMC. This marks a big step for both clubs in running the newest and most exciting addition to Ireland’s racing calendar and builds on the excellent relationship between the clubs, having previously run the BTCC races in Mondello Park together.

    The return of car racing comes after an absence of 44 years with May's meeting being run on the National track measuring 1.85 miles. This comes off the back of a raft of government funded up-grades over the last 12 months (facilitated by 2 and 4 wheels) which has resulted in the circuit being completely resurfaced, giving organizing clubs 3 alternative layouts ranging from 1.5 miles to 2.1 miles per lap and also certified to hold MSA sanctioned kart meetings. May's meeting will feature all the main classes currently racing in Ireland and other classes traditionally run at nearby Kirkistown race circuit, are the shedule;
    The above list is a non-exhaustive list as LMC are currently in negotiations with additional classes who are keen to attend at the race meeting. Organisation for the event is well under way, with the next important date being the track inspection by the MSA in mid February. Both LMC and circuit management are confident that the track will meet with the requirements of the MSA, having implemented the changes requested by the MSA in 2011. LMC will be releasing entry forms and regulations over the coming weeks, with some interesting announcements in relation to sponsorship of the event.
