I got a Sealey jack about 18 months ago - it's a 3 tonne Rocket lift black model. It worked fine up until a couple of months ago when it started messing about. Now it lifts up to the car, takes a bit of weight and then it just makes strange noises and the lever just doesn't seem to do anything at all. I think it's leaking a bit of fluid from the little piston at the end of the lever. Can these things be repaired or is it just knackered? It cost a fair bit of money new and I expected it to last a little longer than that.
If its leaking chances are there is a seal away, You should be able to buy seal kits for it but if its not leaking much try topping it up with oil You can get jack oil from most hardwear stores. If its leaking a lot it may not be safe to use, and obviously never work under a car without axle stands. An alternative may be to ring Denis wilsons at Glenavy and see if they refurbish them
I don't know about the warranty - I went back to the place I bought it from and they said it sounds like it needs bled. They told me how to bleed it but it hasn't made any difference.
is it one of the light alloy ones? if so throw it in the bin there ****.i had the same prob with mine
im not sure if its the same one but it was sealey, it was doing something similar my boss was able to order a seal kit and was handy dismantled and repaired just a few circlips and bolts
