Young black man threatens to have a gun and taunts police to release their dogs, If they do then he said he will shoot. Police release dogs and shoot the young man and their own dog. Leave the lad to die and dont call for an ambulance.

They were way to quick to pull the trigger and there was absolutely no need to spray the crap out of him like that, 1 shot to the leg would have took him down, shame about the Dog :(

Sounds to me like it wasn't supposed to happen like that, if you listen to the police talk just after the shooting, sounds like someone opened up when they shouldn't have.

1st. Never like to see a human being killed

2nd. The guy knew what was coming - you cant act like this with the police, esp in Compton one of the most notorious gang areas in LA. You cannot threaten police that you are going to light them up. The police do use way too much force but by the sounds of it they had two marksmen but everyone decided to open up. Also its seems like an eternity until they go to look at the guy and more so the dog but these cops know that if that guy gathers the strength to pull off one last round they could lose their own life so in that respect i totally understand.

Unfortunatley a situation that could have been avoided :( RIP

    Poor dog.

More surprised that Youtube have allowed that to be uploaded, its more of a "Liveleak" video.

Cop's firing was rash but i'd have shot him in the leg or something long ago for the yapping he was doing about shooting the dog and cops. Dog was a bit much he wasn't so big when it was about to get him.

Very sad for all involved. As they say, he was some mother's son.

The fact that they shot the dog too shows the indiscriminate and unprofessional nature of their actions - a savage, bloodthirsty overreaction. Did he even have a gun?

They could easily have tasered him at any moment, with one or two officers designated to use deadly force if the tasering didn't work.

A sad case of suicide by cop. Funny how the local fascists react differently to this suicide because the victim was black.

    lol...

so this guy is threatening he has a gun and stays in pretty much the same position and suddenly makes a movement during which he produces a flip flop... i;m sorry but with that sudden flinch he's gonna get emptied and its not gonna be a shot to the leg, the police aremt trained to shoot to wound, they shoot when they need to and they shoot to be effective... fair enuff there may have been too many shots fired

but... by tuime the first few were fired if they were at the body mass they'd prob done the damage

Well said m00k, if you suspect a fugitive has a gun in his hand and you shoot him in the leg he could still get a shot away at you. It is probable that he brought this on himself by saying he had a gun. Unfortunate but there was only gonna be one outcome.

    Leg

And the legs are a lot smaller target than the central mass of the body. You miss his leg,and hit someone else....well your on your way to some jail time.

Our guys are trained if you're going to shoot you shoot to kill, I'd imagine they're the same. If it was my life on the line I wouldn't stop until I was sure he was dead and no further threat.
