My dopey 1.6HDI Peugeot Expert isn't boosting the turbo. My "specialist" mechanic says that the turbo boost valve is showing up as a fault on the computer and he thinks this may be the problem. To me, though, it seems more like the turbo has kicked the bucket. The van has no power whatsoever and it can barely get to 70mph on the motorway. Overtaking is impossible. Can this "turbo boost valve" cause the turbo not to boost at all?
Check the orange boost pipe, one in our yard was split badly. Although they do eat turbo's quite a lot, it needed one once we fixed this.
Mine has already had a new turbo under warranty at 18k but it now has 98k on the clocks. I've already spent about £500 on repairs this month so a new turbo will have to wait. It's only after a new starter motor and EGR valve and other things that I can't even remember.
Well this needed the following: Twisted cam shafts Dented sump and damaged pick up pipe 2 Broken rockers Intake seals perished Turbo vane central nut sheered off = new turbo Leaking boost pipe EGR valve stopped working and cam position sensor
These engines are a joke. Mine has broken down more times than I can remember. The fan belt snapped and took out the crankshaft sensor while it was on the way out one time as well. That was another few hundred notes to fix because it happened at 61500 miles and the warranty expired at 60k. I'm sick to death of it but no one wants the thing. £500 of repairs in one month on a 2 year old van isn't right.
