Hi Guys, Ni Sevens are heading for Kirkistown next Saturday for another double header (reverse grid on 2nd race) To get an idea of how good/close the racing is, have a look at the below links to our last meeting in June at Kirkistown - Ali has now added commentary th erace two is the reverse grid action... really looking forward to saturday, hopefully the car pleases me Just reminds me must make some tweeks tonight and a quick spanner check
Still a wee way away from a spanner check but looking good. Dad got ye old box of air on last night and she's running so that's a good start
aye good stuff rob, i think it made a fair difference to mine on a straights.. but if i could get my corner exits better sorted from the chicance and hairpin it would make a bigger difference! Really buzzing about the weekend now
Everything as it should be then, lol Looking forward to having a look again, it was great watching last time
Yea man it's always the same. Come and say hello if you in the paddock. I'm in the blue and black one with White stripes. @ Ian- I found I lost exit speed if I took to much curb on the left. But then if you look at mark or Colin they are nearly four wheels off goin though. The hairpins just a dick! Lol
yeah i going to have to work on my lines on those corners because im doing something wrong, getting passed like im stopped on the straights by some of the guys
Looking forward to it myself Fingers crossed the car keeps going until the end this time! The chicane is ok for me, think I loose some on the drive out of the hairpin but hopefully get that sorted! Sven - make urself known in the paddock!
Missed the last one and never made it to the hill climb (broken gear linkage...) Lol, fastest line seems to be four wheels across the curb right, then four wheels across the curb left, turning in late left to get straight onto the straight if you know what I mean. I think it depends on set-up a bit, too hard and it bounces off the curb. Plus the nasty cut on the inside of the left curb. Seems like everyone has their own line in the hairpin
Not conclusively no! Under-bonnet temps were massive so think I was suffering from some fuel evaporation. I was also running without my air scoop for the first time. I've did a 50 mile round trip on the road since with no issues so I'm hoping it was just a temp thing. Some extra cooling under bonnet for Saturday and see how it goes!
Removed some things that were in place to force air through the radiator to try and keep water temps down. It meant all the air under the bonnet had passed through the radiator. I also had a fully sealed floor so know where for the hot air to go really - changed that now to!
Lol, the Lotus has two venturies in the undertray, just in front of the engine, and a ram scoop either side behind the doors, but there is nowhere for the air to exit - good old British engineering The racers lower the back end of the undertray to create an exit. The back end of the tray also happens to be the diffuser, so the air exits over that. The F1 boys are not the only ones with blown diffusers
Went and watched this again today, even better than last time! The FF racing was good, the V better. The Libre things were just totally mad, lol, such big difference between the cars they were each in their own little race Some amount of money on the track though And then the Roadsports/NI7. What a race! Everyone going for glory, everyone tangling, fantastic entertainment! And the sound, like a big and very angry beehive Donal gave a masterclass in defensive driving in the Saloon/GT race, kept that Honda Whatever behind him for half the race The Sierra was mighty fast for an old tank, and the Vectra had its rear end bouncing across the track halfway down the straight after the chicane, lol And as for the Sunbeam - what on earth is underneath that shell? Sounded like an earth quake, and went like stink, sat happily with the GT spec Porsches! Photos on the way.
I ended up on Colonial and after a very quiet practice the races left us with some hefty work, all i can say is, thank god no one was hurt... the NI7 crash was spectacular to say the least, and from what i seen it was just one of those occasions where too many cars tried fitting into a gap too wee and it ended in a mess. I will sort through qualifying images tomorrow
