as for the rallying, HA HA even the most hardened fans can get it tight to find some of the stages, that's half the excitement about going to rallies...

On a side note - the more advertisements done the more ar*eholes appear.

Its once again an Irish Motorsport thing - it attracts dickheads who either like to drink too much or proceed to attempt to prove the size of their manhood by driving in a manner only ever seen in arcades.

The less of these ******s out at events the better. But i would like to see a bit more in the way of info regarding events whether they are at Kirky or not.

Ross - this point is definitely more suited to the drifting - considering I have heard from a drivers mouth about how much drink was consumed prior to competing

Heaven forbid some genuine enthusiasts might be out there. A fairly closed minded view in fact, and as deplorable as drinking is when involved with any motorsport, it is a sweeping statement to say that it is suited to drifting and certainly not the image that should be portrayed.

your very stereotypical in your comment, do you really think if they advertise more they will all of sudden attract dickheads lol People like yourself need to be positive and open minded to the idea of spectators from all areas. In my eyes it can only be a benefit to the growth of motor racing down this neck of the woods (y)

People like myself spend my life surrounded by motorsport

It is also people like myself who end up having to deal with drunken ******s causing the night stages to be cancelled on the CoI this year.

So yes, perhaps tarring with the same brush, but you are guaranteed at EVERY motorsport event there will be a spectator issue involving alcohol, some wee scumbag or a twincam

yeh kirkistown does need alot more PR... the only reason i got have the pics i have (including the SLR) is becasue i live beside the race track and can hear when theres something going on theres even alot of events that go on and i didnt even know they were happening, as of the Formula master car its philip shields. I would help him out with his cars, Phil will be out this weekend in the master car and the ferrari 360 should be a really good weekend,

i myself through here and the daily mirror in getting a wee bit more PR but its all about word of mouth.

i will be showing Richard young (one of the boys who runs kirkistown) this thread 2morro so he can get the feedback

just to let everyone know that 2morro (friday) theres is pratice for the race so there will be a selection of cars out on the track all day then that night there will be scrutineering so most cars will be out to get the cars done, so youll be able to get up close to most cars including the formula master and the ferrari 360 aswell as formula fords, westfields, gt cars etc etc.......

Well indeed thorn racing! thanks to all for there comments even the ones I think are shallow, actually if you show thread to Mr Young that would be very interesting, sure there will be a bit of both views from the owners as too keep on all sides happy. Not that i would want to destroy the harmony already there from years of loyal supporters and yes i do see the points all mentioned. but do believe that current harmony will always exist for just the pure nature kirkistown is... but upping the game will certainly not take any of joys it already has..

All in all...what will be will be, and no amount of my ranting will change things overnight, but its worth being said and expressed,

Right so a Ferrari 360 races down there too this weekend...gez it just gets better... Must admit that really looking forward to the race meet, good luck to those who have the nuts to race this weekend, will be watching closely to all the action,

Food any Good? Any F3000, F5000 yokes there this weekend?

    Final thought of the night,

I would assume part of the kick of being a driver is that you have spectators also watching your spills, thrills and skills being displayed to the public, fresh public and not small crowds of regulars. I know I would and hell yes to my ego, but think my crash bill would be heavy so I'll just cheer you pilots on!!

Just get yourself down. Usually practice in the morning, and racing after lunch. Cafe style food (various fried items). There is also food at the petrol stations at Kirkubbing or Portavogie.

This meet has a bit of everything. GT races with the Ferrari and space framers and Honda Elises and what not. Single-seaters (mostly formula ford and the likes, but usually at least a couple of more exotic cars too). Saloonsa and hatchbacks.

And then the NI7 with all the locaterfields. A lot of those boys and girls are on here, see News and Events section. You can see them online long into the wee hours moaning about broken this and blown that and crashed something else, lol :p

More advertising would be good but it would have to be targeted correctly. The bigger rallies in the country are getting a pretty hard time at the minute with a bad element turning up to watch. Too much drinking and dangerous driving is being associated with the rallies.

The Southern media is also giving rallying a hard time. There were several news reports that blamed rallying for the crash in Donegal that killed those 7 young guys on World Cup final night.

If you're into your motorsport and watch the websites and forums it's true that most likely you will know what is coming up. But, I'd say there could be a lot of people out there who are not Die Hard fans and perhaps are not on the forums but if they knew about the events, they might fancy going and having a look.

Yes, things may be OK as they are at the minute, but I've been to events in the past and thought to myself they could be so much better. Attendance wise, entertainment wise etc.
