Can anyone tell me if you can connect a USB pen drive to the cable on the back of a Kenwood unit? Or is it only hard drives?

If so, will it display track names and play videos just like a hard drive would allow?

Something I've never thought of before!

Yes Ian it will, just copy/paste your music on to the pen drive and it will display track names etc.

I have a 3gb pen drive hidden away in mine, works a treat and all the song names/folders are all present on the Kenwood HU.

It will play videos ok, can be slow to load though. Drive should be formated too FAT32.

Will song selection be slower or quicker than iPod?

Honest answer is not sure, been a while since I used ipod on a kenwood, although the size of the usb drive makes a difference to speed, especially if your wanting to watch movies. There is also an upper limit to the size of drive you can run. If you want to watch movies, ipod will be quicker to load, as for music, usb is marginaly quicker from memory.

I normally find that the ipod loads music quicker on my kenwood.

What format do the videos on the USB have to be in, in order for the headunit to play them? Thanks
