anyone know any good companies that will insure a jap import (nissan 180sx) in northern ireland? i was previously insured by adrian flux but i've had a very bad experience with them and don't want to use them again! i've rang a few other companies, admiral etc but i've had no luck! some companies appear to only insure certain imports, and all of these companies have refused to insure a 180sx. any tips would be immensely appreciated!
apparently greenlight don't insure s-body nissans but do insure skylines..... doesn't make much sense to me tbh lol most companies don't even know what a 180sx is, i assume it would be illegal to insure it as a 2.0l turbo 200sx? its the same car lol
ah right, found the thread now, johnm said traders section so i thought they had their own board. gonna call elephant and post office insurance now! thanks for the help guys!
Im insuring my 180sx with the skyline engine and all mods delcared for £1000 fully comp with adrian flux.
yeah i had a bad experience with them so they can go **** themselves, they are cheap tho but they completely fcuked me over! tried elephant there, the girl on the phone had never heard of a 180sx and said that they do insure a "200sx s13 import" but the insurance wouldn't be valid as my taxbook says 180sx. i don't think they did a jap s13 200sx tho so i think its a mistake at their end but the girl was having none of it lol
While we're on the subject... does anyone know what DC5's are like, insurance-wise? And semi-related, what about S2000's?
i am near sure the import sr20 s13s are classifed as a 200sx. as the friend had one of these and it sad 200sx on the side rear window.. like so...
sorry my bad seems the european model was known as a 200sx in the s13 range some info [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Silvia[/ame]
Did you try elephant online and not phoning you can get different results sometimes. Im with directline (but i dont think that would help you) but they quoted me £900 over the phone went online go it from them for £650 so dont believe what they tell you all the time. DC5s are a rip off to insure it was cheaper for me to insure a £45000 911 turbo (which I wish I owned) than the DC5 Do Quinn Insurance do Imports ?
Thats why I went for the celica similar power but insured at half the price. But it defo wouldnt be as got round a track.
AFAIK the reasoning behind that is more DC5's are getting dumped on there heads than 911 turbos. Its the claim history of the car. For example Greenlight insure 106's but dont insure Saxo's - that is down to the amount of claims made by those ropey saxo drivers
