A few friends went up Go Karting @ need4speedkarting.com on Sunday, I brought along my new camera and took a short video. Check it out in HD on Vimeo below: [ame=http://vimeo.com/13834734]click here to watch it in HD[/ame] We're gonna be making a lot more videos so let us know what you think! Like our stuff? Im no expert but the main gripe id have is its waaaaaay too long. Id say by about 3 minutes. I was bored after 2. Liked the start and the arty stuff with the depth of field carry on - just think it went on too long. One thing that people use to hate (probably still do) is that i had a lot of shake in my vids - eliminate that and it will be much better. my two cents
@Nazor - I worried that it might be too long, you confirmed this for me You're 100% right about the shakeyness, I've ordered a simple steady cam for future videos so should decrease this Also this is my first video with the camera, so absolutely any more tips you can give me - I'd appreciate it! Thanks!
Well interms of editing its fine although transitions between shots should be different. Like using the music to help the transitions. When the music is slower and beats longer you should fade between shots and when the beats are "punchier" and "sharper" you should just chop them - again its just my opinion and we all have our own styles
Yeh man, sounds good. Thanks I really shoulda done the slow fade to black transitions on the slow music now you mention it. I studied Moving Image Arts at school a few years back at A Level, so been out of the video scene for a while - dying to get back in. So will have plently of videos up to share now I have this new awesome camera What do you shoot with your self? What's in your kit etc?
I shoot with a Canon HV30 HD camcorder - cant do the nice depth of field stuff with it, or at least its very difficult. Thats it really Sony Vegas 9.0 HD for editing at the moment
Nice quality camera; the depth of field stuff is one of the reasons I wanted the 7D. Great having an HD functionality in an SLR format.
Anyone i have showed the raw footage on a proper TV thinks its amazing quality - and it really is, i was hugely impressed when i first got it, still am actually lol. yeah - all the best videos are done with SLR's tbh but there is no way i can afford to step up just yet.
