For the attention of all RMS members - We have compiled this short guide to certain rules, guidelines and etiquette which are in place for RMS members. These pertain to certain forum sections. All users should familiarise themselves with the following before posting on the forum.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First off............ please find the full list of official Site Terms & Conditions at the following link: RMS Terms of Use
When first registering on the site, you will have agreed to abide by these terms. Failure to do so can result in infraction, posting privileges being removed on a temporary basis, or in a worst-case scenario, posting priveleges being removed permanently.

    Section Guidelines
Please note below our particular guidelines on posting within certain forum sections.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    News and Events

Organising RMS Events - Check with Admin
We really appreciate those on RMS who take the initiative to organise an event; be it a meet, night out, rolling road day, photoshoot or any other type of event which allows members of the site (and others) to spend some social time together.

If you are thinking of doing this, you must inform Cooper beforehand to get the OK (if you don't hear back from him within 24 hrs, try another admin). There are several reasons for this, including ensuring it doesn't breach advertising rules on the site (without advertising revenue to sustain overhead costs, RMS would no longer be here), that it is a type of event suitable to be associated with the site and that there are no legal implications.

It also means that banners, etc can be made available to organisers, that the event is properly listed in the News and Events section, and that a report/photos can be published online afterwards.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Car Chat

    Group Buys
As we are always keen to get a good deal on RMS, sometimes there are what we call "group buys", where several members add their names to a buying list for one or more items from a supplier at bulk discount prices.

If you are thinking of setting up a group buy, you must drop Admin an email (use the CONTACT link at top right of RMS) to ensure that the group buy is allowed to go ahead, or it will be removed. again this is to ensure there are no legality issues, and that the item in question is something that RMS is happy to be associated with.

    ‘Gauging Interest’ & Sales Threads
In the past there have been a number of threads with the thread creator asking how much they should sell their car for, or where is the best place to sell it. These threads usually have a detailed description of the car, history of the car, pictures and contact details, which implies they are actually intended as advertising rather than an honest query about selling.

If you want to advertise your car via RMS, you must use the Classifieds system.
    RMS Cars For Sale

A thread with a simple "What is a 2004 Corsa 1.2 worth?" query will not pose a problem, but moderators (at their discretion) will delete any threads which are obviously sales ads placed under the pretence of gauging the market. The Classifieds system was designed specifically to keep car sales ads separate from the main forum, so please do not abuse the system by placing your ads in the wrong section.

    RMS Members Cars

Add Photos to Garage, then Post here

To use the RMS garage section properly you must upload your photos into the garage at http://www.reallymeansounds.com/garage.

Then once you have done this, simply create a new thread in RMS Members Cars, and post up some details and spec of your car. You can link to the photos in the RMS garage and have them displayed in your thread also.

    One Thread Per Car
To stop clutter, please keep your car pics in one thread. If you're taking pics of someone's car for them, please add them to the existing thread and do not create a new one. This helps to keep the section organised and tidy, and makes it easier to search for a particular thread.

If you want your thread deleted so you can start a new one, just hit the Report Post button and a moderator will clean it up.

Do NOT put cars for sale in 'Members Cars'
Please do not use the Members Cars section as an area to sell your car. This forum section is STRICTLY for displaying photos of cars belonging to site members, or friends/family - not for selling.

Any titles with 'For Sale' or similar text will be edited to remove this text, and constant bumping of the threads to advertise that it's for sale will result in the thread being totally removed and points given to the user in question.

    Traders Section

All traders must be authorised by the admin team at RMS.

Our trade offers and pricing is available at www.reallymeansounds.com/trade and if you have any questions please PM Cooper or use the contact link at the top of the page.

If you are a trader and are not authorised and paid up, your adverts/posts will be deleted and you will be warned. Further posting of a trade related nature will result in your RMS user account being banned permanently.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Classifieds Section

Rules on Posting items for sale
The For Sale section of RMS is for PRIVATE sales only, trade sales/spamming will be deleted. There is a proper trade sales section - see above.

Do not post sales of illegal/pirate/stolen merchandise anywhere on this site. Any threads containing details of such goods will be deleted and the user who created the thread could face expulsion from the forum. This is to protect the site legally, not to mention the reputation of the site. It is also to protect the site members from buying illegal goods.

Please note that all For Sale ads MUST have a price added to the ad. If you have been reminded by admin and a price has still not been added, your ad will be removed after 24 hours.

Moderators can and will remove sales threads of a potentially dubious nature, at their discretion.

Any problems or concerns, PM a moderator.

Posting a vehicle for sale or swap
If you have a car for sale or swap, it should be posted in the Classifieds section.
    RMS Cars For Sale

If you are breaking a car for parts, then the parts may be offered up for sale in the 'Vehicles Parts For Sale' section.
    • Any ads which offer a complete car for sale under the pretence of breaking it for parts will be removed.
    • Any ads selling or trading cars placed in the Private Sales sections (under parts or otherwise) will be removed
    Buying Advice
As with anything in life, it is advisable for you to take precautionary actions as both the buyer or the seller. RMS Staff - or anybody else who has contributed to these pages - will not be held responsible or liable for any unfortunate dealings. By you posting an ad or responding/buying from a seller, you assume all responsibilities for the transactions.

Our advice is - if anything about a transaction seems dubious in the slightest, walk away.

    Replying in advertisement threads

Please be courteous when replying to sales threads. These threads are not for discussion, but are to be used by interested parties to get more information, etc. Any other postings will be deleted and an infraction given. All too often these threads turn into an argument over price, or someone will know a third party who sells it cheaper, etc. It is the seller’s choice what price to put, so please show the same courtesy to them as you would expect to be extended to yourself.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Misc & General

    Text Speak
Can all users please refrain from using text speak on the forum. It is not permitted and warnings/points will be given out to repeat offenders. There seems to have been an upsurge of it again lately, but any examples which are noted by the mods will either be edited or removed.

All other members should use the 'Report' button to report any instances of Text Speak to the admin.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These guidelines (and the site rules) have been put in place to ensure that RMS continues to remain a well organised, tidy and efficient resource/community for all users and continues to grow at the pace it has.

We appreciate all input and contributions towards RMS, so if you have anything you would like to see added to the site - or any suggestions for improvement - do not hesitate to get in touch.

    Your co-operation is appreciated.

    RMS Staff
