You might get a new model Volvo S40 2.0d for that money, quality car much nicer than a vectra etc

Altenator and flywheels are a very common problem on the vectra's around those miles

The a4 would b my option only I'd look at cars around 7.5k and bid the dealer.
Would also have to be the 170 bhp 2.0 tdi

    BMW 5er..YAM R1!!
02/03 bmw 330d sport, 6500 would get an under 100k miler easy enough, better car than the common a4,s.. far better driving car, have their faults but easily sorted!!

wouldnt worry too much about the sri cdti 1.9 vectras, people talk about egr and inlet manifolds, nothing to worry about, get it home and pull the swirl flaps off, no hassle!!

but a bmw e46 , would be my choice, interior holds out very well on high mileage versions, 100k on bmw interior is like 10k on a vaux!!

drove over 100mile to see the 03 audi a3 on gumtree. "immaculate condition" VERY DISAPPOINTED!! Y do people lie about their cars to try and sell?

problems i found in the quick 5 mins i looked around it.
front bumper laying down at drivers side
    front bumper a diferent colour
side skirts hanging off on drivers side
side skirt on passenger side wrong colour
    front w/arch rusted
    covered in scratches
    drivers electric window broken
front drivers headlight seemed pushed back as it didnt match passenger side gap against bonnet

going to see another 03 audi in the morning....fingers crossed

2 weeks later and i'm back with an update. the car hunting had been put on a back burner for a few days due to work, but is back on track now.

Been talking with a few fellas in work that have vectra's and they all say stay away. so now off the idea of vauxhall.

Going to view a Black 04 FR with 71k tommorrow, seems to be a genuine car with full history etc. think its on here for sale too.

Viewed a mondeo in cole cookstown, £2k over priced but it in very good condition with full history, Sales man wouldnt come down anymore than £500 for a cash sale and there was a clutch release bearing gone, on the thursday evening we agreed to have it fixed/replaced for sat, when i was to come back up to cookstown to buy cash. rang on friday to confirm the car was in the garage getting fixed..yes.. all seemed ok :) Arrived Sat morning, and sales man said car hadnt been looked at due to time constraints.. but if i buy it then i could claim the repair under the warrenty and it would have to be fixed there and then. i didnt totally believe him.

bmw 320d, 5 dr, 70k miles i think for £6k, blue, has had a recent turbo, looked a nice car, very basic inside, (window winders on rear windows) no onboard comp etc etc. plastic front bumper dented and scuffed, a good few deep scores over the car. just didnt think ti was worth £6k in my eyes.

Am i being to fussy when looking for a car?

Not at all mate. No point settling.

An ibiza cupra would be the ticket though.
