Trying to get classic insurance but need to be a member of an owners club, cant seem to find many appropriate ones when i google it, anyone know of any cheap ones, membership card etc - for a honda crx. Cheers
They usually ask for a membership number but I've never had one. Just tell them the club you are a member of.
do all places that offer classic insurance need some sort of club membership? also whats the story with mods on a classic policy? i will be looking to put my 88 325i on a classic policy soon-ish and its got a few mods but will be getting a turbo slapped on it in the not too distant future as well. where all would be good for a classic policy given what i intend to do with the car?
ring campbell autoline (CCC Insurance) in Coleraine. They were the only company who would cover me on a classic policy with all mods declared. Out of 25 companies i tried when i first got the car CCC were the only ones who would cover engine mods. Anyone i asked needed club membership but I've no membership number so i just told them i was in the capri club NI and they accepted it.
I'm paying £160 for classic limited to 3000 miles and all mods including engine declared. But I needed to have another car as my daily.
i have a daily driver insured fully comp atm so thats not a problem. think id like more than 3k a year on the classic policy tho..
hmm.. ideally id want more than that even. would like to be able to just jump in it and drive it whenever i fancy without worrying about milage tbh.
will do, could also maybe try greenlight or something..i could always disconnect the speedo input or swap in a second set of clocks but then id be losing milage on the clock for correct service intervals and all that, plus thats all a bit dodgy tbh lol might be able to wangle a better overall price for the 2 cars if im willing to insure the 325i on classic and the hyundai on a normal policy with the same company. could do that handy enough as my current normal policy only has another month or 2 left before renewal time and allthough the price fully comp with AXA (current insurer) wasnt too bad for the 325i as a daily driver its only gone down to about £600 for switching over to the wee hyundai lantra, would have thought it should be a bit cheaper than that for a weedy little 1.6 turdbox tbh.
Most insurers wont allow classic insurance with any mods, the rest that do often require limitation in your mileage, member of a vehicle club and own or have the use of other vehicles. Insurance is a pain as they make you do most of the leg work and often loose or miss place paper work when it suits them. Thats why I try and email everything.
sounds like fun then.. maybe better to look into a trade policy so i can drive either car whenever i fancy it.
hard to know with the milage.. used to daily drive the car but with a wee runabout now maybe 3-5k a year would do?
what about trade insurance? that would be handy for me.. could drive either car and any cars im working on or whatever.
depending on age and company requirements it could be 1500-2000 for a policy maybe? both my insurances come to 600
1500 or less could be do-able. cant really see me getting the wee lantra and the 325i insured on seperate policies for much under 1k all in so an extra 500 or so to be able to drive just about anything would be handy.
wonder would they cover a turbo conversion tho? got some new shoes for the E30 yesterday too, put them on today and me likey.. ill have to clean her up next time the cover comes off and take a few pics.
