Has anyone else noticed the strangely cheap prices of vectra C's on gumtree?

Is that because they're ticking timebombs, or is this just how cheap they are becoming from depreciation?

I know there be's a lot of trouble with the turbos and stuff so was wondering if this may be why or is it just the normal price for them in 2012.....

@Eager Been driving one as my daily now for nearly 2 years and the flywheel was noisy when I got it and has got no worse since, best to change it of course but I wouldnt let a flywheel put me off.

Good comfy cars and I would defo buy another

They arent that bad a car, but they are getting on in age, and a lot are fairly high milage after munching motorways for most of their lives.

The dervs seem to be becoming more and more cultchie by the day. So theres that as well.

And the prefacelifts are worth nearly **** all these days lol.

Noticed even the VXRs have no price to them at all, are they that bad or just unwanted? Id imagine theyd be a solid motorway cruiser no?

i noticed u can buy an 06 sri cdti for around £3k with 100k seems good value for money considering passats and Audi's etc are over double the money
be careful with them duel mass flywheels had a mate drive his for ages with one rattling it ended up breaking the crank shaft

I had a 150 cdti and apart from the kinda useless handling, it was a comfy big motor which I thought was pretty good value for what I paid.

That's until you get a bill to make your eyes water.

Cost me the guts of £2k to keep it on the road for 20 months (about 25k miles put on it).

Apart from filters, and other consumables, I got the dreaded swirl flaps chewed up in the inlet manifold or something, as well as the EGR valve being a nuisance, and broken springs. Pretty much everything I read about being a problem, became a problem.

When I got it finally running without going into limp mode, the mechanic warned me of the DMF.

So, she went up for sale.

The 150 cdti are probably the worst engine you can buy in them sadly. The swirl flaps can be removed, and the EGR blanked off, but even then its only a waiting game until the DMF or the Injectors go.

Deisel wise, the 120 cdti is the better engine.

I've put near 35k miles on mine, broke one spring from hitting a pot hole, and the alternator went. Thats it really, apart from servicing.

Going by how common it is, I think it isn't a matter of some being cursed. It's a matter of one or two being very fortunate.

If the DMF issue was the only problem, and there was a solid flywheel alternative replacement, it wouldn't bother me. Being Vauxhall, I'd say there's a lot more to go wrong in the Insignia's than the DMF.

    have to agree

my corsa c was great for a while then the curse of the griffin kicked my in the nut sack ... repeatedly :/ evetually i gave up spending money on it and unplugged the oil warning light under the bonnet as it was full of oil ... it went another few thousand miles then literally blew up in a puff of smoke and oil sending bits of the engine block down the road....

    ^ that.

30mpg town, motorways are grand with 40+ish cruising.

12mpg if you are pushing it :p

Not overly fast, but doesnt feel that underpowered (probably would if you went from a 530 bmw or something) Engine needs revved to get the most out of it, but revs freely.

SRi Directs have big problems with the injectors. So the Non Directs are better, but have less power (144 vs 161 ish) Engine cant really be tuned, unless you have several thousand to throw at it to make a supercharger stick.
