thinking of buying a 1.4 or 1.6 tdci 08+ for the missus.

what's it like to drive/own? any issues I should be aware of?

all positive and negative comments will be greatly appreciated :)

Great wee cars, had one for just a year now.

The chassis is fantastic, really tight through the corners
I have the 1.6 tdci and its a great pulling engine, loads of torque, but i am considering getting it remapped, just cos i think the engine has a little more to give

I had a 1.4TDCI. Very very good car. The engine is really strong with blown turbos being pretty uncommon and a lot more reliable than the 1.5dci equivalent which can suffer expensive injector problems. Injectors are the only thing to look out for in the 1.4tdci as well and its easy enough to do- if there is a ticking noise coming from the engine it means the injector seals are away and need replaced. Its a dirt cheap part but just takes time. If it is ticking it doesnt mean the injectors are shot but if left unfixed for a long period they can go. I drove my fiesta for 3-4 months before I worked out what was causing the ticking and when I got them fixed it was grant- injectors ran fine. All in all 4 years driving with 50k miles and all I spent was oil/filters, an engine mount and injector seals.

cheers for the info guys, i'm 99% convinced. a test drive should bump that up to 100% plus I have been checking out every one that drives past.

really like the look of the zetec s, which u can get with the 1.6tdci engine just got to find a good one now and get it bought! same insurance group as the 1.6tdci zetec, if my source is correct.

Missus has a 2011 zetec s 1.6 and loves it. Such a nippy car and shape looks really sporty. Couldn't fault the car at all!!
