I've been considering one of these for a while now but all I can find is non-branded eBay stuff. Ideally I want something that is a full mirror with mounting bracket rather than a clip-on effort.

Solar panel on the back for charging would also be a plus, not interested in music playback, just Bluetooth, built in speaker, supports voice dialing would be good & iphone4 compatible.

So does anyone know of a known brand or something the have which fits the bill?

Well I haven't seen many of them that are without a clip I'm afraid, however there is a superb brand of bluetooth mirror that I put in my car, its made by VIVIFI much better quality and better build than the eBay stuff. The link to the manufacturer is here http://www.vivifi.com/products/bluetooth-rear-view-mirror/

However I found this company selling it a little cheaper than RRP http://www.mantistech.co.uk/shop/vivifi-bluetooth-rear-view-mirror-hands-free-p-128.html This is where I got mine from. MantisTech delivery my Bluetooth Mirror the very next day. It does not do music, but has a great speaker with great sound quality. The mic also cancels out background noise so my voice is loud and clear at the other end. Also it works with my iPhone 4 and Samsung Galaxy S2 bluetooth perfectly.

Also I found another company who sell a similar bluetooth mirror hands free car kit, however I'm not sure of the quality or build. http://www.bluetooth-mirror.co.uk/ but this company seem to specialise in Bluetooth Mirrors.

    Hope this helps.

Only problem with stuff like that, is the microphone is nowhere near you.

Ive tried 2 stereos with built in mics, and whilst I can hear the other person fine, due to background noise etc, they cannot easily hear you.
    It's just too far away.

Some of the visor mount bluetooths are better, as you can flip the visor down so the mic is very close.

I was worried about this too regarding the Mic, but the Vivifi one that I bought is truly fantastic, does a great job of cancelling out the car noise and everyone on the other end can hear me fine. I think unlike the cheap ebay copies the Vivifi model has true noise cancellation. Also the mirror being attached to your existing mirror is naturally faced towards you so the mic is facing you too, additionally the mic is around the same height as your mouth. I've had a visor one before and didn't find that people could hear me as well as it was above my head. I really do think the Vivifi mirror is the best solution that I've had in my beamer.

Hate to say it but looks like cheap Chinese gubbins to me. Why wouldn't you buy a tried and tested integrated kit like a parrot or bury?

Do those kits come with the wee relay to transfer the sound from the Bluetooth kit to the radio automatically?

I was working on a car a few weeks ago that had a bluetooth kit wired up in such a way that the radio AND the Bluetooth were going through the speakers at the same time. Very irritating according to the guy that owned the car, so I'm going to require it for him in a couple weeks time. Trying to find the wee relays to buy on their own though to save him buying a new hands free kit.

Surely a matter of hooking up the radio mute?

Not sure Cooper, but it's the standard stereo in a 2002 Merc E-Class, so might not have that feature. I was only servicing it and doing the front brakes, but he told me about the Bluetooth problem when I was at his house doing the work, and then showed me it functioning. Can see why he chooses not to use it though.

@ Nicky - It is a matter of muting the radio from the "wee relay box" - it's probably the one I designed - the Autoleads V3 Telemute. If not wired properly, then it will do this. If it has a pink wire going nowhere, then it needs to go to the mute position.
