Not been driving long (2years now with 1 years no claims in a couple of weeks) but wouldn't mind changing the current car for an mazda RX-8/Hyundai coupe. Not got a clue what sort of price my current wheels would be worth if anyone could give me a rough estimate, it's pretty much immaculate inside/out, 5years old just flew through it's 2nd mot, never been in accident just over 40k miles, 1590cc engine, it's one of the wee 3door Grand Vitaras just used for going to work and back. Any price guidelines would be appreciated! (do ya tend to get more if i was say trading it in at a dealer for a car they had rather than sell it privately also?) what sort of insurance would i be looking at (if at all) for something like the RX8? atm i'm paying just over 1000 for the Vitara, (i'd be 28, clean license/history with 1yrs no claims). any info would be good!
....insurence is different for everycase, try somewhere like confused.com and check pistonheads, or usedcarsni or the similiar to see how much people or selling theres for.
those comparison sites tend to be ****e for quotes do they not? most of them came back with silly amounts when i tried them before £2k or so for the vitara but the same company over the phone were always around half as much. checked usedcarsni for my jeep, quite a few for just under the 3k mark but with 60-70k miles on them and a year or two older, mine would maybe be about 4k then? would you get the same sort of money trading in at a dealer or?
The majority if times a dealer is only going to offer you the CAP figure, which will be an awful lot less than what the car is worth on the open market. However your gonna have to know how to sell if - i.e. pay for advertising, find out full spec and write a good description, take good photos and price accordingly. Miles/year don't always play a big part in a price - when Im buying a car Im more concerned about condition. If your looking to sell it quick your gonna have to price it low - if you dont need it away in a hurry then price it slightly higher. Always make sure to price it slightly higher than you need to, to leave room for haggling. For insurance check out Martin Lewis Money Saving Forum - he has a list of which search engines to use to cover most of the market and therefore get a range of prices.
