Not long now! Should be good, much more even from the start than last year. Everyone is talking themselves down, lol Not sure how the no-refuelling rule will play out, after all fuelling strategy was the main thing separating even teams before. But at least the stupid Kers is gone. Ferrari and Red Bull are moaning about a slot in the McL wing: Formula One 2010: McLaren await FIA ruling on wing innovation - Telegraph US-F1 are dead, and the Serbs will not be allowed to start, so the grid is one team short already.
No way, KERS was great. Thats the sort of stuff F1 should be doing. They should allow them to use KERS, allow them free reign on engine size and configuration and then restrict the amount of fuel they are allowed for the race. At the start of the season agree an amount and then tell them that for every race from now on you will get 2 litres less than you had at the race before. F1 should be at the cutting edge of automotive engineering.
KERS isn't banned, there's been a gentlemans agreement not to use it this year from the teams associated with FOTA... Williams however were suspended from this after breaking ranks in an argument last year and have continued to develop thier own flywheel based system.... infact, in front of the sidepods at some tests, the cars carried "williams hybrid systems" decals, so will be interesting to see if they use it or not. Can't wait for the season to kick off proper though, it looks fantastically close at the top!
its looking good alright ferrari, mclaren, mercedes and red bull look imprerssive. as does force india.. schumi may have an advantage with no refuelling although alonso in a ferrari if they have given him a good car will be hard to beat. 3 horse race for me schumi, alonso and hamilton let the season begin cant wait
If you limited the fuel it wouldnt be long before the teams bought back their KERS systems. I though Williams were allowed back into FOTA again? Or was there a different falling out other than the one when Williams signed up for 2010 when FOTA told them not to? Porsche recently bought the Williams KERS system. They showed a 911 race car with it this week at Geneva. I dont know if they bought the full rights to it though or just bought a licence to use it.
In this weeks Autosport there was an article on Kubica. It was saying that him and Alonso have a driving style that suits an understeering car whereas Hamiltons style suits an oversteering car. It went on to say that now with the reduced width front tyre Kubica could be a bit of a dark horse.
the whole idea behind the KERS system was to equalise the engine performance and have the KERS system as the variable, hence driving on the technology, hopefully filtering down to road use. It just didn't sit well with the FIA's cost cutting campain. As for Kubica, they say he's a dark horse every year! A driver driving a narrower front tyre in an understeering fashion would surely overwork and overheat a smaller area?
So Button and Massa aren't contenders? Can't freaking wait, as much as I don't like Massa I will be watching him closely this season and Hope that the crash last year hasn't affected him No Doubt if Massa does do well Alonso will have all the toys out of the Pram
some testing for you guys enjoy[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OX6I3ouIZwc]YouTube - F1 WINTER TESTING 2010 BARCELONA PT2[/ame]
actually can't wait..this could be the best F1 season for a very very long time..they are talking about 3-4 second pit stops for tyre changes!
good laugh that [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNpc4CCxXyo&feature=related]YouTube - McLaren vs Ferrari in the pit - F1 2010 Test Barcelona[/ame]
He he, would love to see Massa beat Alonso Massa knows Ferrari, unless Alonso gets an advantage there is no reason why Massa would not be on top. My mistake
Happened to watch first practice. The ususal suspects at the top, very close. But boy are the new teams off the pace! The others pass them as if they were standing still. Hispania was all over the place. Laughed out loud at the Renault car with Lada pasted all over it
Mercedes looking strong in the 2nd practice session. still the unknown of fuel level so its anyones guess as to the true pace. track is terrible, as are the rest of the tracks done by Herman Tilke. roll on the more traditional tracks
I have to agree with Coops, Mercedes are definately looking strong, can't wait for the race now on Sunday!
Watched both practices yesterday, about to watch the 3rd, Hulkenberg seems very quick in the Williams compared to Barichello, VR, Espania and Lotus are seriously off the pace, and there is all ready alot of stink being kicked up about the little funnel on the McLaren's Nose that is controlled by the drivers left knee that stalls the rear wing reducing drag and improving top speed
vettel looking very quick, but will ferrari be faster in the race? how long before alonso spits the dummy out this year? bad mistake by button not being on the harder tyre, surely 10th on the hard tyre would have been better than 7th on the soft one. will be interesting to see how far sutil and rubens can get up the field starting on the best tyre. do they still have to use both tyres this year? or can you go the whole race without stopping at all?
