Any one got graphs from a map done over here? I offered my vx220 turbo (z20 let with vxr turbo) to AI autosport to map and they turned it down, saying they nor anyone else on these shores was any good at these engines

Yep I heard this too! I have read some bad things bout torque tronix on here but a few of my mates have got maps done with them with no problems at all! These were diesel engines tho! Do ya no if it was custom or generic broomy? Also do they check your boost an all to make sure everything is running as it should be?

Isn't there only one or two sepcalist in the UK that map these cars?

For example I wouldn't let anyone in the UK other than RStunning in Leeds map my megane. (As its all they do, create maps for Reno Sports and are world renowned for it.)

Surely there has got to be similar for VXR?

Yea its more expensive to go the England but you get what you pay for.

Aye Courtney sport seems to be the main tuner in England, followed by Thorney Motorsport. I would love to go over there to get mapped but don't have the time or the money to go!

Not sure tbh but I will ask, he's in the army so not sure how soon I'll get a reply. I'd heard mixed reports about them too but no personal experience so can't comment on anything.

    Fair enough.

I just think tunning over here is never manufacture specific. So the maps (if not imported) still have plenty of flaws.

And even if they are, the ones from the providing companies arn't always upto scratch from what I have read.

I would rather go to someone that has years of experiance mapping that particular engine, its worth it on so many accounts.

    Well IMO.

    thanks broomy
I agree, i might just buy a handheld like the bluefin and get it checked on rr or save up and make the time to go across the pond.

I have a bluefin if your looking one but to be honest your better with a custom map and if you have to go to the mainland to get it then do, its worth it

It's one thing loading a generic map.

But it is another, 'tweeking' the map once on the rolling road, that is key / skill.

    And alone, worth the journey!

Just food for thought. Especialy on a 'performance' car.

If it was me, id stay clear of generic maps, they take no account for any mod's / variances in engine parameters.

I had the bluefin on my cupra before a custom map from a tuner over here- which some people will say isnt custom at all if its over here as according to some tunners over here cant do a full custom map. That said, the difference between the bluefin and the custom was like standard and stage 1 no joke, so much more drivable and soo much faster in every part of the rev range, even though peak torque was reduced- the bluefin had a massive torque spike which made it feel very fast, but that was deceptive

    I can well imagine,

There are folk over on MS.net that have similar mods to myself and running 30 BHP less and quite a bit less torque (NM).

Which is all down to the engine managment / the tunners skill.

At present I believe I have the 4th 'quickest' (going by MS.net) in terms of BHP / NM, Meggy in the UK and most of it comes down to the skill in mapping. I think.

    Its something you wont regreat.

Whatever you decide... good luck (y)

Just depends on how much you want it. I personally would love to have it done by Courtney (wouldn't let Thorney map my lawn mower) but my time off is precious, 2 days leave minimum, a return ferry, not to mention petrol to Norfolk and suddenly you are up round £1500 mark!

That is true, I did my mapping while on their door step.

But for what RST have produced, I think I would have paid the extra for the ferry ect.

The sad thing is, it's all but standard again.

    I agree with you 100%.

Rs tuning is the only place for the megane.

I made the mistake going to torquetronix to get my megane 225 remapped.

Mate has a 04 VXR Astra which he had remapped 18mths ago when he got a BlueFlame exhaust fitted, it was done by a guy in mallusk I think but can't remember his name, results were very very impressive although will find out this Saturday at RR what exactly it's putting out.

It's not numbers that make a good or bad map though. Area under the curve and driveability are much more important and more difficult to get right. I'd love to see a graph after the rr? Would be great of someone could do it over here though
