I've owned quite a few Alfas and not one has ever let me down. As Stu said there is quite a lot of BS still spouted about Alfa reliability, as demonstrated by Woodcutter above (Jamz3k is correct as the GM derived engines are chain driven, not belt).

I jumped ship from Alfa after my 147 GTA as there was nothing in the Alfa range to replace it IMO. The V6 engined 159 and Brera just didn't cut it.

Thankfully Alfa have realised this and are beginning to put decent engines in their cars again.

Oh, and Stu, I don't want to teach my granny to suck eggs but the MiTo Cloverleaf has the multiair version of the 1.4TB engine pushing out 170bhp. The new Giulietta Cloverleaf will have the 230bhp version of the 1750TBi engine (y)

Yep, that was mine. Seriously miss that car :(

Have a VXR8 now and whilst I love that big 'ol V8 and the fact that there's so much room inside (at 6'7" that's kind of important :p) I do miss the wee go-kart that was the GTA.

I'm liking the look of the new Alfa Giulietta so maybe next year I'll be back in an Alfa again.

I have an E46 320ci and i would say the interior is brilliant in it, my friend has a 2007 335ci and the interior in it is also great, the audi a5 was be unbelieveable brilliant to be able to beat the bmw, what actually makes the interior so much better in the audi?
i had been in an A6 a few years ago and it was well up the range as the guy worked for audi the only thing that i thought was good about it was the bose sterio system. as far as the exterior of both the 3 series coupe and the A5 the bmw wins every time.

I am a BMW fan mants I've had three in the last ten years and I don't dislike the E92 interior I just think it could have been better and I actually think the interior in my current E46 330CD sport is better than the current model, who knows maybe I just need a change from BMW this time and the A5 ticks all my boxes it just a question of how good a deal I get who knows if BMW offer me too good a deal to turn down I may be in an E92 yet......but it would have to be a hell of a deal.

i think the E92 is the ticket, has got everything anyone could ask, i just dont think that audi has it in terms of the exterior looks. same with the mercs they dont do it for me exterior wise or for that matter coming to think of it interior lol

I think it is the same with BMW and Audi to be honest, neither of them look like much in standard or SE trim IMO its when you go for the Msport in the case of BMW and S-line in the case of Audi. Can't imagine anyone not liking a A5 S line sport with the 19"s, they are stunning looking.

To me theres no point in shelling out a lot of money for a non m sport bmw, they like pants, but i think even the audi s line doesnt look anything special, doesnt stand out the same as what an m sport E92 would, what sort colour would you go for in both.

stick some links up to i get an idea. at the moment i think you would be mad chosing an audi over the bmw :)

Cant say the audi does anything for me, cause so many people that those rims on their seat leons / toledos and boras. I think the bmw definently has it in the styling department, see this photo http://cdn.motors.co.uk/d/used-photos/43741/400x/0/0/AV59ECZ.jpg nice and agressive looking, again for me the audi is to bland and doesnt look much different to an ordinary A3 or A4.

Each to there own mate, don't think we are going to agree here lol. Those are not the rims that comes on the one I want just happened to be the first picture I came across

This one has the rims I want, and I would probably go for white or black

It is likely that the Alfa would be more reliable than the Audi going by recent reliability surveys.

reliability aside the Alfa wasn't a nice car to drive and it had a broken seat even with only 3000 miles on it, not a good sign of things to come IMO.

If you squint or have crap eyesight the E92 3 series and the A5/S5 could be the same car :p

I never liked the E92s that much, for some reason they look like they have been designed for american tastes.

Never thought I would say it, but I prefer the looks of the A5
