The beautiful Mosel region of Germany plays host to the ADAC Rally Deutschland, with rally HQ in the historic city of Trier. Rally website - Offizielle Website der ADAC Rallye Deutschland It's the second asphalt rally of the year but the stage conditions are different each day, presenting challenges to drivers over the weekend. Friday's stages are in the vineyards (the Mosel region is known for its wine!). Saturday's stages are based on concrete roads used by the army with the (in)famous "Hinkelsteine", also known as "big dangerous lumps of concrete blocks" (not quite a direct translation ) Sunday's stages are a bit smoother, culminating in the Circus Maximus spectator stage around Trier's famous landmark the Porta Nigra. This year's rally is a round for WRC, SWRC, PWRC and JWRC. Entry List can be accessed through here: http://www.rallye-deutschland.de/teilnehme...h=&lg=d&st=244& Dani Sordo has a new co-driver for the event. Another Spaniard - Diego Vallejo - is replacing Marc Marti. Vallejo, 37, is a seasoned competitor in Spanish and European rally series and guided his bother Sergio to victory in the 2009 Spanish asphalt rally championship. Recently, he has worked as part of Sordo’s gravel note team on asphalt rounds of the WRC. http://www.wrc.com/news/dani-sordo-splits-...arti/?fid=13461 The real reason why I'm so excited about this event is that as well as the mainfield guys and gals having fun on the stages, there's a 40-strong entry for Slowly Sideways, and we're taking a rally car over Anyone on here heading over?
A few fella's I know are marshalling at it, said it's the most profesionally run rally they've ever been to. As one said "It makes Rally Ireland look like a night down at Seacat"
Haha Nazor, not bringing a suitcase I'm afraid! Bringing a motorhome Gaza_r, I'm not really sure what Seacat is, but I think I get the sentiment lol
After SS1, Loeb has a 5.4s lead over Sordo and a 12.5s lead over Hirvonen and Latvala. Unless Loeb makes a monumental mistake, he's home and dry already.
Just home from Rallye Deutschland, had a great time out there!! Good stages - especially the Circus Maximus spectator stage  and the weather was unreal, defo hotter than Catalunya! You'd be roasted in the rally car come the end of the stage!! Landed in Germany on Monday evening. Had Recce on Tuesday and Wednesday - the rain that fell during recce had me thinking it was gonna be like Rally Ireland all over again but thankfully the Germans had ordered sunshine for the actual event We were on show in Trier on Thursday afternoon/evening, stages started on Friday. A lot of the stages were up in the vineyards, so plenty of hairpins and tight ones too!! Friday's stages weren't really driving stages, they were more precision stages! Saturday's stages were more fun, they had some gravel sections on them and more flowing sections (which is what I like!), and Sunday our first stage was cancelled due to a WRC car acting the maggot and then we had the epic Circus Maximus stage around Trier which was all SqL's and SqR's Groups of five Slowly Sideways were let off at 10 second intervals to do 3 laps, was savage craic Here are some pics I took, actually managed to get some of service and WRC cars this time, unlike Spain! None of the pics are too hectic, I'm not really a camera person, but enjoy! Service Park in Trier The leading man himself! The Doctor was riding around in this for the weekend, not too shabby! Some of the Slowly Sideways group Skoda was towed by this, possibly one of the coolest looking service wagons I've ever seen uper: Queueing up at the start of a stage These were everywhere!! Circus Maximus stage in Trier
. Class pics, not fussed on the 1st few, all that WRC **** lol Sideways stuff looks awesome, the aul fella's bus looks well, Any more rounds over here or in England as I fancy headin to one, .
Excellent pics Noelle - id love to have something like a T16 to do these types of events very jealous!
Cheers Cazzo! The next event in Ireland is the Cork 20 afaik, and then the Halloween Historic Stages. Thanks Nazor! Was good fun out there alright, Circus Maximus stage around Trier was just the best craic!! T16 rally car would be quite cool, but I'd settle for a road car
Nazor, it didn't actually seem that bad at the time tbh! It looks worse than I remember lol But yeah, I think it's great photo Cess - cheek!! The car was one of ten built by a semi-works crowd in Italy. Alén drove it in a rally over there, last (famous) person to drive it was Franz Wurz (F1 driver Alex Wurz's Da)
