    Honda Civic Cup - 2012

We have just had approval on our Civic Cup series for the 2012 season at Kirkistown with the 500 MRCI. This will be run on the same days as other classes such as Formula Ford and Saloon series etc already competing in the 2012 car meetings at Kirkistown. We already have enough cars sold for the series to start next season its no longer "something in the pipeline". We will soon release a detailed list of parts/modifications required to be fitted when we publish the regs in a few weeks.

We have already had an MSA scrutineer inspect the cars and pass them for racing to RAC MSA spec. We are now in the process of finalising the regs with the help of some MSA stewarts. We hope to have them finalised and published in the next 2 weeks. We are just fine tuning them with imput from various sources from across motorsport to make the class as good, fair and competitive as we can.

All the cars competing will be UK SPEC Honda Civic VTi (EK4). Some of the basic regs are listed below. A much greater detailed version to follow.....
Standard B16 A2 Engine no polishing or machine work
Standard gearbox with OE final drive (No LSD)
Air filter / Induction kit open (except ram system)
Manifold and exhaust will be one of our custom built systems to your requirements (choice of bore size from 1.5" to 2.5")
BC basic coilovers height and damping adjustable with any spring rate
MSA approved cage, harness and plumbed in fire extinguisher
Fire proof race suit, gloves, boots and fire proof underwear
An MSA race national B licence will be required

We have some big names also backing the class. I cant say to much yet but some of the names include Tarox, BC Racing and Yokohama!

These sponsors which will allow competitors purchasing their parts through Street Racer to recieve a discount. In addition I have got some small bulk discounts which arent huge but will help save some £££ on seats, cages and fire extinguishers etc

It has taken a huge amout of time and energy from alot of people to get this far and we appreciate all productive C&Cs.............................

Sounds very good, how many races would you hope to have per season? What's the format of these 500MRCI races I've never been to one yet?

No you have to do trackdays or hire the track for a day or half day on test days, usually Fridays before race days.. Half day hire is 4hrs £60 an hour I think last time I hired it about 5yrs ago lol!

For road sports in the westie it costs me around £300 an event when I add up my tow car fuel, race car fuel, entry etc.

We can build the cars to order or build them your self to the class regulations and we can supply the parts

To book the track at the minute is £180 for a full day or £110 for a half day

We will show a pricelist shortly once discounts are finalised with various suppliers

Good work andy and anyone who thinks about £300 for a full days racing is dear, needs to go price rallying!

A track day in your decen roiad car would cost near £300 and you don't get a grid full of similar spec'd cars.

Look forward to seeing this next year :)

Exactly! as you say too if because you get the extra running too at a track day, you will be using more fuel, i know my mate in his silver Evo9 uses about £160 of fuel on a trackday!!

Might be a stupid question but why no LSDs? And ive heard bad stories about the BC coilovers so could someone not use one of the better brands?

Use BC coilovers in the Nissan for drifting. Much better than the Teins they replaced!

Had BCs in the impreza too and they were a good job, but i chose the wrong spring rate and were too hard for everyday use, so let them go, but not beacuse of the quality of them

So is there a limit to how much your cars stripped out ? An EF and EG class would be awesome to

We have tested the BCs all year and they are great, and we have been selling them for years and never had a single problem.

The reason for no LSD is purely cost. It would add minimum 500 to cost of the build

What sort of money would you charge for a car ready to race? Can you break it down to cost of car and price for prep please?

This sounds like the best of the bunch with all these new series' popping up everywhere. At least we know this is a definite goer.
