'Super nippy hot hatch' Lmao! As said 1.4 won't get you anywhere quick.

Can't fault mine that much.....

.... although I've noticed recently that the electrical gremlins of french wiring are starting to appear. Mines the same year. You might well be glad of the 6 month warranty if you buy it.

They handle like a van in standard guise and feedback from steering is non-existent. On the other hand, comfy and will give decent mpg. Depends what you want from it really.

cant fault it from the ad and photos, keep it serviced well like ay car and you shouldn't hit many problem's.

but 1.4 isn't great but if not not worried about power it'd be great.

That megane looks in top order Jonny.... very clean and ridiculous low miles for the age.... also spotted a handsfree bluetooth kit in the 5th picture

i drive a 2003 1.4 3door dynamique Megane, as said not much power in it, but as Sieddie said if your not worried about get to 60mph in under a minute only joking its not that slow ....mpg wise i would get on average 33-34mpg which would be all city miles - full tank of petrol would usually get me about 330 miles i think!

Only problems ive had in the past 4 yrs have been ignition coils and TDC sensor - which i managed to change myself in order to avoid being raped by charles hurst renault!

what sort of problems have you been having recently mcmurray? I'm starting to notice a few strange engine noises in mine when sitting idle

If I were you I'd avoid it like the plague Jonny, they're a pile of le pish. We've had one for the past three years and I've spent a lot more on repairs for it than I've spent on the Supra in the same time and I do far more miles in the Supra than the wife does in the Megane.
The passenger door pocket fills with water when it rains, it's a push button ignition with card key, the card cost near £200 iirc to replace when it went (had to be programmed by Renault), coils went, replacing a headlight or indicator bulb requires an additional rotating elbow on your arm and is a major pain in the arse. The central locking turns on and off at will when driving, all sorts of lights appear on the dash for no apparent reason, the rear seatbelts don't work most of the time, the doors weigh a tonne, Renault decided to change their mind on when the belt needs changing (revised from 55k miles to 40k miles I think), it starts when it decides to, not when you do. If you're stuck you can't bump start it as you can't put the car in gear and push the start button at the same time. The list is endless.

Just for my 2p... I love my Megane but a 1.4 would be a bit slow

I would strongly discourage anyone thinking of buying a Renault. They seem cheap/fresh and like a pretty good buy compared to the competition but they're cheap for a reason. The post above summed them up pretty well 'le pish'

I'm like a broken record on these Renaults lol

Had the 1.6 when i first past my test. Was nippy enough, but i didnt like the clutch on it. The windows would randomly go down and decide not to come up, it wouldnt start and just generally had bad electrics. On the plus side, safe as houses in one.

The only thing there do quickly is empty the fuel tank. As said 30 mpg is the normal which for a 1.4 is pish. A Focus or an Astra would be a much better option

After personal experience for over a year with a Renault Megane, I wouldn't go near one.
